Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
This policy explains how to cancel a SynthGap subscription and when we give refunds. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
In short: Cancel any time yourself, in the app, in two clicks. No emails or phone calls needed. You keep paid features until the end of the period you've paid for. You can also delete your account yourself, which cancels everything immediately. If you subscribed by mistake or forgot to cancel, ask within 7 days and, if you've barely used the plan, we'll refund you.
1. Plans and billing cycles
| Plan | Price | Includes | Billed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | US$0 | 3 discovery runs per 30-day period; one topic per run | Never |
| Monthly | US$30 | 200 discovery runs per month | Every month |
| Quarterly | US$60 | 600 discovery runs per three months | Every three months |
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe. Before you are sent to checkout we show you these terms for the plan you chose and ask you to confirm them.
2. How to cancel
- Sign in and choose Account in the top bar.
- Choose Cancel subscription. That's it, with no extra confirmation screens.
Changed your mind? Resume subscription in the same place undoes it any time before the period ends. (Your payment method and invoices are on the Stripe-hosted billing page, which Manage in the top bar opens. You can cancel there too.)
Cancelling stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Until then you keep your paid features. Afterwards your account moves to the Free plan, and your content stays in your account. You never need to contact us to cancel. If you can't sign in, email support@synthgap.com with your username and the email address on your Stripe receipt, and we will cancel it for you.
3. Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself: choose Account in the top bar, then Delete account. Deleting your account cancels any subscription immediately and permanently deletes your content. It can't be undone, and the unused part of the period you have paid for is not refunded unless one of the cases in Section 4 applies. If one does, email us the payment details afterwards and we will refund it.
4. Refunds
We want you to be able to try a paid plan with confidence.
- First purchase. If you ask within 7 days of your first payment for a paid plan, and you have used fewer than 10 discovery runs on it, we will refund that payment in full.
- Forgot to cancel. If a renewal charge surprises you, ask within 7 days of the charge. If you have not started any discovery run since it, we will refund the renewal in full.
- Billing errors. If we charged you twice or the wrong amount, we will correct it and refund the difference, whenever you tell us.
- Service problems. If a paid feature was materially unavailable for a significant period, contact us. We may offer a partial refund or extra runs.
- Everything else. Otherwise payments are non-refundable, and we don't give pro-rated refunds or credit for unused runs or unused time after you cancel, except where the law requires.
5. How to ask for a refund
Your receipts and invoices are listed in the app under Account, and Stripe may also email a receipt for each payment to your billing email. Email support@synthgap.com with your SynthGap username and the date and amount of the payment (or the email address on the Stripe receipt). We reply within 5 business days. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method and typically appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
6. Consumers in the EU, UK and elsewhere
If you are a consumer in the EEA or the UK you may have a legal right to withdraw from a subscription within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason. If you start using paid features during those 14 days, you are asking us to begin the service immediately. If you then withdraw, we will refund your payment less a proportionate amount for what you have used (the share of your plan's run allowance you have used, up to the full price). To withdraw, tell us clearly by email at support@synthgap.com. Consumer laws elsewhere may give you other rights, and nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
7. Failed payments
If a payment fails, we show you a notice in the app, Stripe may email you, and Stripe retries the payment automatically. You keep your paid features while it retries. You can update your payment method at any time from the notice or from Manage, and the next retry will use it. If the payment still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and your account moves to the Free plan; your content stays in your account, and you can resubscribe at any time.
8. Price changes
We will give at least 30 days' notice (in the Service and, where we have your billing email, by email) before a new price applies to your next renewal. You can cancel before it takes effect.
9. Chargebacks
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. We can usually fix a problem faster than a dispute can.
10. Taxes
Prices are in US dollars. Where we are required to collect sales, use, VAT or similar taxes, they are shown at checkout.
