Common questions

What is a discovery run?

A discovery run starts from a clinical area you describe. SynthGap searches the published literature, checks candidate topics against existing systematic reviews, and proposes topics with the primary studies behind them. The Free plan includes 3 runs per 30 days, Monthly includes 200 per month and Quarterly 600 per three months. A run that fails before it returns anything is given back to you automatically.

What is a deep analysis?

After discovery you choose topics, and each topic you choose gets one deep analysis: SynthGap captures the related studies from the whole PubMed index, screens and selects the final included studies, runs a small meta-analysis and writes a report. Deep analysis is on the paid plans: 20 a month on Monthly and 60 every three months on Quarterly. One that stops with an error is given back to you automatically.

Why was a study read from its abstract only?

Only some studies have free full text. For the rest, the analysis works from the abstract and says so. If you have legitimate access to a paper, you can add its PDF next to that study and re-run the analysis. We keep only the text we read from the file, for that run, and the re-run does not use another deep analysis.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, choose Settings, then Cancel subscription. You keep paid features until the end of the period you have paid for.

Can I get a refund?

In some cases, yes. For a first purchase, ask within 7 days of the payment, provided you have used fewer than 10 discovery runs and no deep analysis on it. The Refund and Cancellation Policy lists the other cases, and how to ask.

Who can see my runs?

Only you, unless you choose to share a run. A shared run can be seen by every signed-in SynthGap user, so treat it as effectively public.

How do I delete a run or my account?

Delete a run from your Library. To delete your account, open Settings from the account menu and scroll to the bottom.

How reliable are the suggestions?

They are AI-generated from the published literature, so treat them as candidates to verify before you register a protocol. The AI Output and Research Disclaimer explains what to check at each stage.
